Sunday Best

This morning I got to wear another cutie dress from my Great Nana Guth! I started out the day like this:

Later, Mommy decided to switch the bow out for a hat (I know, I know. It's hard for me to believe, too) and add some tights.

It was Mommy's turn to work in the nursery today, but I didn't get to go with her. That's because my nose is still a little runny and my throat is still a little coughy. I spent the service in the sanctuary with the big people, though, which was fine by me!

Thanksgiving Eve and the Day After Thanksgiving.

You may have noticed I've been gone for a few days. Well, I have been quite busy trying to kick a nasty cold, helping Mommy get ready for Thanksgiving, and cleaning the house for Mommy's Prom Dress Promenade party. I've got a little free time now, though, so here's a run down of what I've been up to (minus Thanksgiving Day):

Wednesday morning I woke up with a runny nose and I became a bit of a grump-bump. Since I didn't feel good at all, this was how I spent most of the day.

On Wednesday night, the Texan side of Mommy's family met up for our annual Thanksgiving Eve dinner. I really tried to be in a thankful mood, but my sleepiness and snottiness won out!

My cousin Julie kept an eye on me while I played. She made sure I didn't eat the door stop.

Girl cousins.

Courtney, Poppy, Auntie, Mommy, and Daddy.

(Mommy forgot the camera on Thanksgiving Day, I will have to write a seperate post about that after she gets some pictures from my Grands.)

Yesterday Mommy let me bust out my Christmas clothes. I currently have 11 Christmas outfits! You'll be seeing quite a few of those in the weeks to come.
Last year, one of Mommy's kindergarten students gave her this outfit even before I was born. She's had it hanging in my closet for such a long, so she was thrilled to finally put it on me yesterday!
Daddy thought these were jammies, though, so while Mommy was shopping he changed my clothes. We all had a good laugh when she came home!

Last night, Mommy had her first annual Prom Dress Promenade party! She invited some friends over and asked them to wear an old formal. A few people wore bridesmaid's dresses, Auntie wore her Senior Walk dress, and Mommy wore a cheerleading banquet dress.
Mommy said they had lots of fun watching "27 Dresses" and boogying down with a mini dance party.

Grandpa's Office

Yesterday, I went with Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma to meet Grandpa for lunch and a tour of his office.

Daddy shared his pickle with me at lunch. I think I shocked everyone with how much I liked that thing!

This bright yellow volley ball caught my eye when we were at the receptionist's desk in Grandpa's office. I got to check it out for a little bit. It's difficult to take a picture of Grandpa without chopping his head off. He is 6'5", you know!

Grandpa seemed to really enjoy showing me off. He must talk about me all the time, because lots of his coworkers said, "Hi, Katie Bug!" as soon as they saw me...no introductions needed!

Movie Monday

Auntie sure did have me laughing hard on our way home from Target the other night!
And, no, Mommy didn't forget to turn her signal off. That sound you hear is from the loading-at-the-Target-entrance-so-we-don't-get-wet flashers. Mommy couldn't get the flashers turned off once we were all loaded up...so we had to drive all the way home with them on.

Convincing last laugh, huh?

Sunday Best

This cutie little jumper was given to me by my Great Nana Guth. Doesn't she have great taste?

She sent the jumper (and two other super cutie dresses) by way of my Great-Great Aunt Pat and Uncle Morris. We were blessed by a little visit from them this weekend. Mommy hopes she can take me to visit their home in Illinois some day. It's her most favorite house ever!

(What do you think of my pirate face?)

Thank you, thank you to those of you who have been going to the Father on behalf of my cousin Caleb. The last few reports Mommy has read have been very positive.
His pain level has been greatly reduced, his recovery is going well, and he even took a bite out of a roll and swallowed it!
This is great news, because prior to his surgery Caleb would only chew and spit his food.
He's now one step closer to being off his feeding tube some day!

Remember this bow?

The one that Mommy actually said was too big?

Well, we fixed it this week! It's still a big 'ol bow, but it's not nearly as long. I think it's much more "me" this way...don't you?

And for all of the folks who comment on what a great job I do of keeping bows in my hair...
now you know the truth.

On a completely non-Katie Bug note, can you believe that Mommy was actually out past my bedtime last night?! I bet you know exactly what she was doing, too!

That's right...Mommy was catching a Twilight Saga double feature. She said Twilight was just as cheesy as ever, but New Moon was really great!

She also said that when June rolls around, she will be catching Eclipse at a more godly hour of the day. Three hours of sleep is not enough for the Mommy of a 9 monther!

Please Pray for Caleb

Caleb is my one year old (great/second/first-once-removed?) cousin. He lives in Illinois, so I haven't been able to meet him yet. Caleb was born with many internal abnormalities that even Mommy doesn't completely understand, so I'm just going to quote his Mommy and Daddy:

Caleb was born with a small diaphragmatic hernia ( small hole in the diaphragm that allowed his very small stomach and pancreas to slip up and develop in his chest), abdominal situs inversus (his liver is on the wrong side), partial anomalous pulmonary venous return to his heart (one of his veins in his heart hooks up in the wrong spot), possible malrotation of his large intestines, and no spleen. To complicate things further his liver goes across the middle of his abdomen instead of being on one side.

Even I know that's a lot for one guy to handle!

Yesterday Caleb had surgery to put a patch in his diaphragm that will reinforce the area where his stomache has been herniating into his chest. The surgery went well, but was very complicated (the surgeon rated it 9.95 on a 10 point scale) because nothing is where it should be inside of Caleb's little body.

Caleb is in a great deal of pain right now, which is very difficult for his Mommy and Daddy.
Please pray that Caleb's healthcare team will be able to get his pain under control quickly.
Please pray for strength and comfort for Geoffrey and Rebekah (Caleb's parents).
And please pray for Caleb's healing.

Craftsy Ladies

Mommy and I have been busy with some craftsy ideas! Yesterday we finished this name banner for my nursery. (Now Mommy just has to figure out the least tacky way to hang it from the wall.)

And today we hit not one, but two crafsty stores where we picked up this cardstock and scrapping paper for 3 more banners we are working on.
This beautiful sight caught our eyes while we were browsing the aisles at Michael's. It's a whole section of chipboard letters and decor! Mommy especially loved the glittery letters...but she decided she needed to stick with plain old die-cut cardstock for now.

And in case you were wondering what I was wearing on our shopping outing
(you know you were): I currently have a total of 3 Thanksgiving bibs...thanks to the generosity of Grandma, Mimi, and Auntie. This one came from Auntie.

Even with all of the lovely letters, punches, appliques, ribbon, stickers, scrapbooking paper, stamps, and stencils Mommy fawned over today, this was still her favorite sight:

Sunday Best

I had a nearly perfect day in the nursery today! Can you believe that I only cried for a few seconds (when Mommy said goodbye), and I was a happy girl the rest of the time?

Auntie bought this cutie outfit for me. Mommy says it makes me look like a baby rockstar.

I guess my new rockstar look left me feeling a little dare devilish, because I tried standing up in my brown chair for the first time! Don't worry...Mommy was closer than you think.

After church, Mommy and Daddy's young adult group went to Daddy's favorite pizzeria for lunch. I was in a super fantastic mood the whole time we were there! I manage to tolerate restaurant high chairs a little bit longer each time we go out to eat.

Here I am with Mommy and Daddy's friend, Nicolas. Nicolas is neck and neck with "Uncle" Oscar in the race to be my biggest fan. Every Sunday, he tells me how beautiful I am and how mesmerized he is by my baby blues. Mommy says it's too bad he's not about 18 years younger!

And this is me with Mommy and Daddy's friend, Danielle. Danielle is one of the funniest people I know. She told me that she reads my blog every day after school because "after teaching second graders all day, ya just need to see a sweet baby."
(Danielle- Mommy would like to apologize for the glare in your glasses & maaaybe jumbling a few words in your quote.)

Fun Saturday

Today I met Julie at Babies R Us to get some cutie pictures taken. Julie is my almost 4 year old cousin (or is it great cousin, or 2nd cousin, or first cousin once removed?) and she is a lot of fun! She took me through all the toy aisles and showed me lots of toys I need to put on my wish list.

The Kidde Kandids pictures turned out cute. Great Nana will love getting them for Christmas! Mommy said I can post some here once she pulls them off the CD.

Tonight I got to see my "Uncle" Chase. He is the closest thing Mommy has to a little brother. You can't tell from this picture, but I thought he was hilarious!

Chase was a little sunburned from soaking in the rays at the UT/Baylor football game today.

Our family is very proud of Chase. He graduates with his Bachelor's Degree next month, then he's off to theological seminary. He has become such a hard worker!

Grandma's School & a Serious Question

Mommy was subbing at Grandma's school today, so Daddy and I decided to join them for lunch. Grandma had a lot of fun showing me off to her coworkers and students...and I had a lot of fun being the center of attention!

Mommy couldn't help but chuckle when she came home from subbing and found this stuffed combination in my wagon. That's my bear and Huggy Jesus hanging out together.

An older man at our church gave Mommy the Huggy Jesus doll last year while she was pregnant with me. She wasn't quite sure what to think of him (Huggy Jesus, that is) then...and she still isn't sure now.

On the one hand, she thinks he may be a good visual when we're reading the Bible together.
On the other hand, she's worried that it may not be such a great idea for me to haul around a stuffed representation of the Savior.

What do you think about Huggy Jesus? Mommy would love to hear other people's opinions.

Baby Bookworms with Cooper

Cooper and his mommy, Kelly, joined us for Baby Bookworms today. Cooper was a very good little listener! He kept his eyes and ears on the librarian...even when I was causing a rukus.
Mommy tried to take this cutie picture of me sitting back to back with Kelly, but she was too slow.

And because you can't possibly see too many pictures of me crawling through the tunnel...

Karsyn's Baby Shower

Brandi (Mommy's life-long friend) is due with Karsyn (my future life-long friend) in early February...just 2 days after my first birthday, in fact!

Mommy and Mimi hosted a shower for Brandi this weekend, and I graciously agreed to show off some of the pictures.
Even though I wasn't invited.

Mommy, Brandi, and Mimi.
Lacie (Brandi's cousin-in-law), Brandi, and Dena (Brandi's cousin). All 3 of them are pregnant. How exciting is that?!
Mommy made this cutie bow holder and these bows! She had Daddy rescue the frame from someone's trash pile. Then she cleaned it up, spray painted it black, and glued the ribbon to the back. Now she's on the lookout for a discarded frame for my bedroom!

I helped Mommy make the "it's a girl" banner. We are very proud of ourselves.

The food table.

A little bit closer, now. Mommy hotglued ribbon to the glass containers. She wouldn't let me help with that project, though.

"Aunt" Michele made this beautiful cake. I love the cutie baby footprints on the seal.

Karsyn, Mommy and I pray for you every day. We can't wait for you to get here!
I will take you on wagon rides and trips the the Arboretum when you come to visit Dallas. We will go to the Fort Worth zoo together like our mommies did when they were little girls. And our aunties will spoil us with candy and clothes when the four of us are together.
I just can't wait!

Sunday Best

This pic will have to do for today, because Mommy didn't take my usual "before church" picture.

She tried to get that thumb out of my mouth, but I wasn't having it!
I had another great day in the nursery. Miss Trish took care of me this morning, and she always brings a smile to my face. I just love her!

Mommy, Mimi, Poppy, and I went to Fair Park to meet Auntie at the end of her Breast Cancer 3-Day walk this afternoon.
I am so proud of Auntie. She trained hard, raised financial support, and spent lots of time in preparation for this walk. She is tired and sore tonight, yet thankful that her feet are blister free!
Auntie is trying to get me ready for the 2027 3-Day Walk. Here she is letting me try out her Camelbak Hydration Pack.
I supported the BC cause and Auntie by wearing my pink "If you think I'm cute you should see my Aunt" onesie
.
