Like Father Like Daughter

Tonight I went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner. I had a lot of fun playing with all the toys there. They have great cloth blocks, a walker cart, and a fully loaded exersaucer.
My favorite toy, though, was their piano. They let me make beautiful music for as long as I wanted.

Daddy is so proud of me! Hmmm, maybe I can sweet talk him into playing one of his guitars soon.

Sunday Best

Here I am right before my morning nap. I didn't actually wear this bow to church, though. Mommy swapped it out for the cutie white korker she made for me last week. It wasn't asking me to pull at it quite as much as this big 'ol guy.

Today was a big day at the Lighthouse! It was family worship, missions, baptism, and communion Sunday! And I didn't even have to go to the nursery! Since I've had a runny nose for the past few days Mommy decided to take me to the service with her.

Of course, I wasn't really able to sit quietly through the whole thing. I did, however, make it through worship, announcements, and baptisms before I decided it was time to talk to Mommy. She took me to the "cry room" (even though I wasn't crying) so I could talk all I wanted while she listened to the service through the intercom.

Mommy loves baptism and communion Sundays! She and Daddy are praying for and looking forward to the day I understand those two ordinances.

Lazy Saturday

Today was a pretty relaxed day around my house. This morning, I played with Mommy and Daddy a whole lot. They were hilarious! Mommy kept running after me and saying, "I'm gonna getchu!", but she never could quite catch up with me. Daddy let me practice my crawling and climbing skills on him (literally).

Mommy snapped this shot of me while we were playing this morning. It was taken 5 seconds after she put my headband on, and 2.5 seconds before I pulled it off.
I had a big suprise when I woke up from my afternoon nap...Jason came over! Jason is Mommy and Daddy's Little Brother from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. I loved watching him play on Daddy's laptop, make frosting, and decorate cupcakes. He even played a quick game of Hide and Seek with me.

Here is a picture of Jason, Daddy, and me.

Jason is so silly! I think I need a big brother, but Momy says that's easier said than done.

Happy 7 Monthday to Me!

I am seven months old today! Don't worry...Mommy is already making plans for that first birthday party. She's already picked out a theme, colors, and a few decorations.

Here are somethings you should know about me at seven months:

I am getting lots more red hair.
My naps are much better. Some days I even take two 1.5 hour naps!
I have eaten green beans, butternut squash, sweet potato, banana, applesauce, avacado, and rice cereal. My favorites are squash, sweet potato, and banana.
I like to give my Mommy and Daddy big, slobbery kisses. I haven't figured out how to do that with a closed mouth yet, though.
My favorite song is "My God is so Big".
I said "DaDa" for the first time today!
I love to be outside.
Mommy-separation anxiety has set it.
I am officially through with the swing, and maybe even my playmat.
Everything in my line of sight goes in my mouth.
I am still toothless, but Mommy is almost certain that will change soon (although she has thought that for a looong time).
I can get into a sitting position all by myself.
I am a beginner crawler.
I will occasionally use my crib rail to attempt to pull up to a standing position.

My increasing mobility has increasingly made life more challenging for Mommy and Daddy . They have to work hard to keep me in one place during diaper changes, and they are always checking the floor for things that are "not for Katie".

Today's Monthday photo shoot was especially interesting. Here are a few shots that didn't quite make the cut.

Mommy and Daddy's school pictures

Photobucket

This week, the Show Us Your Life topic at Kelly's Korner is "School Pictures". Here are some I found of Daddy and Mommy.

Here is his kindergarten graduation photo from the mid '80s. Don't I look just like him?

This picture is from his kindergarten graduation program. My Daddy is just a doll!

Mommy may not have been as cutie as Daddy, but she sure was an overachiever right from the start! Here she is right before heading off to the first day of kindergarten. She was practicing raising her hand for the camera...what a goober! Check out those cool bangs.

A few years later, Mommy's science fair project won Grand Prize at her elementary school and 2nd place in the District's science fair. I'm pretty sure she has Poppy to thank for that one!

Fast forward a few years with me. Here is a picture of Daddy and Uncle Brian at Daddy's high school graduation.

And Mommy and Daddy at Mommy's high school graduation. They look so liiiitle.

Before they know it, Mommy and Daddy will be snapping pictures of me on the first day of kindergarten!

Tough Day

This picture pretty much sums up my day! My nose was stuffy and some teeth are trying to come in...so I felt pretty yucky. Mommy knew it was going to be a tough one when I was already a grump-bump after being up for only an hour. I spent most of the day in her arms, and this picture shows how I woke up from every nap. It didn't take me long to calm down after Mommy scooped me up, though.

Mommy and Daddy are praying for a better day tomorrow.

This morning, I went to ISP studios while Mommy and Daddy filmed September's annoucements for church. This was the first time I was in the studio while the camera was rolling, and I only interrupted filming a few times. Here is a picture Uncle Dan took of me playing with Daddy on the studio floor. Daddy was doing Bug duty and teleprompter duty!

When we finished with the shoot, Mommy and I went to WalMart to buy groceries for the week. Mommy wanted to buy some Baby Mum Mum crackers for me, but the only box on the shelf was opened! Guess we'll have to check again next week.

The good news on the food front is that I am becoming a bigger eater! Up until this week, the most I had ever eaten at one meal was about one tablespoon. Well, as of Saturday, my tummy has become a bottomless pit (sort of). My favorite foods are butternut squash and sweet potato. Mommy is going to have to work really hard to make sure I don't turn orange!

Here I am enjoying my sweet potato lunch. Can you see why Mommy gets me nakified before feeding me?

Mommy wanted me to ask all of you veteran moms a question: How do you clean your baby after a meal? Do you just use a wet washcloth? A wet wipe? A dunk in the sink? She would love to hear your ideas!
