Family Jeans

Check out my (almost) vintage Wranglers! Auntie found them while she was cleaning out a closet at Mimi and Poppy's house. No one knows for sure who they belonged to, but it was either Mommy or Auntie.

Aren't they cute?

These pictures were taken about 20 minutes before I spit up all over my onesie.
At least I missed the jeans!

Ladybug Tent

Mommy bought this yellow ladybug tent for her kindergarten students a few years ago. They loved sitting in it and reading books during station time.
Then, Mommy had a class that contained a large handful of students who could not be trusted out of Mommy's line of sight...so she gave the tent to her school's librarian.

That librarian is a real sweetheart, and she thought Mommy would like to have the tent back since she has her own little Bug now!

Here I am playing with Daddy in my new digs...

and listening to Mommy read a story. Can you tell I really love books?

Movie Monday

Remember those video shoots I keep going to with Mommy and Daddy? Well, this is what we have been up to. We shoot 3 or 4 weeks worth of these at a time. Then, Daddy edits them and they play during our Sunday services.
Don't worry... I won't be offended if you don't watch the whole thing!

And this is what I was up to while Auntie and I hung out together on Friday.

Happy Monthday to Me and Sunday Best

It's a Bug's Life twofer today! I'm 8 months old today...and it's a Sunday!

Here are some things you should know about me at 8 months:

I am quite possibly the world's fastest crawler.
I love to pull up on anything that isn't faster than me.
I can do a little bit of cruising.
My culinary experience now includes green beans, butternut squash, sweet potato, banana, applesauce, avacado, rice cereal, oatmeal, mango, pears, peaches, carrots, zucchini, puffed cereal, Mum Mums, and a little bit of shredded cheese. Tomorrow I get to try yogurt!
My bathtime has been pushed back from 6:30 to 7:00.
I like waving to my family...and my puppies, and my light, and the shower.
My favorite toys are hangers and a water bottle.
I am still toothless!

Another cause for celebration in our family is that my tear ducts have not been clogged for the last 3 days! Please pray with us that they stay open....and I don't have to go through the duct obstruction procedure scheduled for November.

Are you wondering how I did in the nursery today? I thought so.
Today Mommy and our nursery volunteers started "Operation Katie Bug". This basically means they mildly tortured me! Instead of paging my Mommy when I got upset, the nursery workers took turns trying to distract me. I wasn't falling for it at first, but by the end of service I was actually enjoying myself!
It's a good thing we have such sweet volunteers at the Lighthouse.

I'll leave you with a few outtakes from today's monthday shoot.

A Day With Auntie

Yesterday I hung out with Auntie while Mommy finished up her week of first grade subbing. Here is a glimpse into our day.
While Auntie snapped pictures of me, I snacked on Mommy's camera case.

I tried to drink water from my sippy, but just couldn't make it work. When Mommy came home she told us it was because Auntie forgot to attach the straw! Oops.

Auntie worked really hard to get me to look at the camera when we went outside. There are just too many other interesting things to look at out there (but I did oblige her once).

We played outside on my blanket for a long time. My toys and my puppies kept me very entertained!

Then Mommy came home, and it was cuddle time!

Thank you for staying with me today, Auntie! I had so much fun with you.

Show Us Your Life: Baby Gear

Photobucket

Boy, do I have opinions about this week's Show Us Your Life Topic!
Kelly has asked her readers to show their baby gear and note what they recommend and what they wouldn't buy again. You might want to make yourself comfy...this one's gonna be long!
I will start off with things Mommy, Daddy, and I love.
SwaddleMe Wraps
I slept in these for the first 4 months of my life. They really helped me calm right down and get to sleep. Do not be fooled by imitators (explanation to come).
Admitedly, I didn't like this the first time I used it...but that changed quickly. Now, I love to hang out in here while Mommy does our ironing.
This is a perfect place for me to hang out while Mommy does the laundry or goes to the bathroom *snicker, snicker*. When you add the play tray it even works as a portable high chair.

Why, yes, this is my pooping face!

Tiny Love Activity Gym
I started using this thing when I was only 7 days old (see picture)...and I didn't stop until I was over 7 months old. It was great for tummy time and checking myself out in the mirror.

Boppy Pillow
Mommy and I have used the Boppy every day since I came home from the hospital. Mommy says it saves her arms when she's nursing me, and I used it to prop myself up before I could sit alone.

Moby Wrap
This is Mommy and my faaaaavorite piece of baby gear! We recommend it to other mommy and baby duos all the time. When Mommy first put me in here at 4 weeks old (see pic below on left), I immediately fell asleep. As a newborn I would sometimes sleep in the Moby for 4 hours at a time!

At nearly 8 months old, Mommy and I are still using the Moby almost every day. This is where I hangout when we go shopping or when Mommy has to do housework (and it's not my nap time).

Now, the few items Mommy and Daddy wouldn't buy again.

Pouch Sling
Mommy and I love the way these look, but they just aren't nearly as comfy as our Moby. It is also difficult to choose the right size, which may be why it's not so comfy. Ours is a little too big. We really recommend a Moby (or other wrap) over a sling.

First Years Swaddle Blanket
This brand does.not.work. Daddy got so frustrated with these that he balled them up and threw them in my closet with great, angry force! It was kind of scary. Spend the extra buck and buy the SwaddleMe brand.

Well, I think that's it for gear we don't really like. It's nice to know there's a lot more good than bad!

What do all of you other mommies think about our list? Anything we missed?

I almost forgot...

...to tell you that I met Auntie's best friend, Staci, a few weeks ago. Staci has been a part of Mommy's life since the day she (Staci) was born. Everyone in my family just loves her!

Staci was living in Tajikistan when I was born, which explains why we didn't meet each other until just now. She's very good at making me smile! Maybe it's because she has red hair, too.
