Doctor Visit

Today Mommy and Daddy took me to the pediatrician for my 6 month Well-Baby visit. We had to do it a month late because my pedi was on maternity leave when I really turned 6 months old. Who knew doctors could have babies, too?

Here is a picture of Daddy and me waiting for the pedi to visit with us in the butterfly exam room. I was a little bit ticked because Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me crawl around on the floor.

Here is what we found out about me at the pedi office today:

27.4 inches long (90th percentile)
15 lb 2.5 oz (25th percentile)
17 inch head circumference (50th percentile)
One tooth bud on bottom right gum

I was also given another round of vaccines and a flu shot. Ouchy!

Mommy and Daddy both thought that (for a girl with holes in her legs) I was a very sweet, very happy baby today!

Here is a video of me crawling around in my nursery after my doctor's visit. It won't be long before I'm on the other end of the camera!

Storytime at the Library x2

Today Mommy and I went to a morning and afternoon storytime session at the library.

The morning session was for infants through 5 year olds. The librarian read a few short stories about grocery shopping/going to the market. In between each story we did a rhyme. My favorite rhyme was "Pat-A-Cake", but what I really enjoyed was watching the big boys and girls have fun.

The afternoon session was called Baby Bookworms. It was geared towards...can you guess? I'll give you a minute.
You got it...babies!
We read board books about cars, trucks, and buses. Mommy and I both liked The Pigeon Loves Things That Go. It is by one of Mommy's favorite children's authors,
Mo Willems.

Here I am pretending to be a train traveling through a tunnel at Baby Bookworms. Even though I only traveled to the opening of the tunnel, I sure did have fun!

I also helped Mommy with some more organizing today. We are cleaning out the front bedroom so Auntie can move in with us. I found these great Christmas containers in one of Mommy's boxes. Can you believe she had these things boxed up? They totally belong in my toy baskets!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Sunday I told you about how I am musical like Daddy. Well, in order to be fair, I need to let you know that I am a bookworm and organizer like Mommy.

The first time I ever crawled it was because I was trying to reach a book. Mommy was reading Baby Giggles to me and I wanted to turn the pages myself!

Every morning Mommy reads the Bible while she eats her breakfast and I play with my toys. Well, the past few days I have been crawling towards and trying to eat her Bible. I guess I am already hungry for the Word of God!
Here is a video of Daddy reading a book to me this afternoon. He and Mommy were so proud that I figured out how to press the button to make the book say "Hello!" Mommy was a little slow in getting the camera out, though, so you won't be able to see all of my skills here.

I also helped Mommy clean and organize Daddy's costume drawer today. That's right... my Daddy has a costume drawer. It is full of things Daddy says he needs to have on hand in case he ever has to pull together a costume.

Here are a few things Mommy and I found in the drawer today: 5 red bandanas, 1 blue bandana, 2 wigs, 3 70's era ties, 1 pair of rainbow suspenders, 1 red bowtie and cumberbund, 1 stretchy red belt, 1 weightlighting glove, 1 beard, 1 helicopter mechanic's coat, 1 blue scrub top, 3 Royal Ranger (kind of like Boy Scouts) acheivement badges.

Don't worry Daddy...we only threw a few things away!

Today is Tuesday. That means Mommy and I take a trip to Walmart for groceries.

I really like shopping at Walmart because there are so many people to see (and tell me how cute I am) and so many things to look at.

Mommy's not such a big fan though. She would much rather do our grocery shopping at Super Target where the aisles are wider, the packaging is prettier, and the crowds are fewer. Super Target is also where the prices are higher, though, so Walmart became our main grocery source when Mommy stopped working as a teacher.

Every Tuesday when we get in the car to go to Walmart I hear Mommy say to herself, "I'm going to do what I have to do so I can do what I want to do." I think she is reminding herself that the less expensive Walmart trips help her be able to stay home with me. And that is something we can both agree on!

When Mommy and I headed home after our grocery run she forgot to take my headband and bow off my head. She realized her mistake as soon as we made it home and she saw this:

The sun was really bright today, so I needed to use my headband as a sleeping mask!

Labor Day Fun

This afternoon we had a Labor Day cookout at our house. I invited both sets of grandparents, Auntie A, and the Ortiz clan (Tara, Oscar, Preston, and Ian) to join us.

I had so much fun with Preston and Ian! Those boys are hilarious. Here we are taking a dip in my little pool. Let me tell you, it is not easy to get 2 babies, 1 toddler, and 2 mommies all looking at the camera at the same time.
All this Labor Day partying made me a very tired little girl. I was a bit of a grump-bump* this evening, so Mommy and Daddy put me to bed extra early. I should wake up a super happy girl in the morning!

*Grump-bump is two levels below Kate-a-saurus.

Like Father Like Daughter

Tonight I went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner. I had a lot of fun playing with all the toys there. They have great cloth blocks, a walker cart, and a fully loaded exersaucer.
My favorite toy, though, was their piano. They let me make beautiful music for as long as I wanted.

Daddy is so proud of me! Hmmm, maybe I can sweet talk him into playing one of his guitars soon.

Sunday Best

Here I am right before my morning nap. I didn't actually wear this bow to church, though. Mommy swapped it out for the cutie white korker she made for me last week. It wasn't asking me to pull at it quite as much as this big 'ol guy.

Today was a big day at the Lighthouse! It was family worship, missions, baptism, and communion Sunday! And I didn't even have to go to the nursery! Since I've had a runny nose for the past few days Mommy decided to take me to the service with her.

Of course, I wasn't really able to sit quietly through the whole thing. I did, however, make it through worship, announcements, and baptisms before I decided it was time to talk to Mommy. She took me to the "cry room" (even though I wasn't crying) so I could talk all I wanted while she listened to the service through the intercom.

Mommy loves baptism and communion Sundays! She and Daddy are praying for and looking forward to the day I understand those two ordinances.
