Playdate and Birthday Pics

Mommy and I went over to Cooper's house for a playdate this morning. I had lots of fun playing with Cooper's toys, glancing down from his game room balcony into his living room, and showing off my sweet crawling skills.
Cooper was such a great little model when our Mommies decided to take our pictures! I, on the other hand, was mad at my Mommy for not letting me crawl down Cooper's stairs. That woman is becoming Captain Cautious, I tell you! Thanks for letting me come over to your house, Cooper! You are a very good sharer of toys!

Later in the day, Mommy and I went outside to take some pictures. As you know, I am about to be and we needed another good shot for my party invitation. Mommy thinks she managed to snap a winner, so maybe she'll let me post the invitation later in the week!

Movie Monday

I am so proud of Mommy for letting me ride some of the "baby" rides at Chuck E. Cheese.
She didn't even whisk me away from the horsey ride when she realized it was a little rougher than she had bargained for!

Sunday Best

I was in a super talkative mood today. Can you tell?

Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie really enjoyed the stories I told them over lunch. They are such great listeners!

Can you guess where I went Saturday afternoon?
I'll give you a few hints: pizza, games, rides, and a bajillion kids running all over the place.
You got it! I went to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time!

Mommy, Daddy, Auntie, and I all piled in the car and drove to Denton to celebrate Cousin Julie's 4th birthday. It was so much fun! I loved watching all the big kids, checking out the mechanical Chuck E., and riding the "baby" rides.
Happy Birthday, Julie! Thank you for inviting me to your party.

Calling All Craftsy Mamas!

Looking for an easy DIY project?
Tired of your little one growing out of her footed jammies at warp speeds?
Well, does my mommy have a project to share with you!

That's right! In less time than it takes to lotion up a freshly bathed baby, you can fashion those too short PJs into sleepwear your tot can stretch her tootsies in.
All you need is a pair of scissors, a tight budget*, and a mommy with lack-of-sleep limited reasoning skills.

*Don't worry, Grands...the budget isn't really this tight.
Don't worry, Dallasites...this project occured before our current run of freezing cold nights.
And don't worry, Fashionistas...Mommy threw these jams out as soon as she realized the error of her ways.

A Day of Firsts

Here are a few things I did for the first time today:
Folded my hands when Mommy prayed for our lunch.
Said "Daddy" instead of "Dada".
Said "uh oh" when I dropped toys on the floor...well, I actually said "uh uh".
Dropped the food I didn't want to eat on the floor.
As you can see, it was a very busy day for me.
Too bad Mommy didn't get any of these firsts on camera!
She did, however, manage to get this super cutie video of me listening to one of my favorite books.

Thanks, Grands!

I need to say a big "Thank you!" to both sets of my Grands. They gave me some super fun toys for Christmas, and I have had a blast playing with them every day.

This walker/stroller came from Mimi and Poppy. When I wake up in the morning this is one of the first things I want to get my hands on. The dolly Mommy and Daddy gave me fits in it perfectly, too.

My ladybug tent and platic balls came from Grandma and Grandpa. I really enjoy hanging out in here while Mommy works in the kitchen. There are two openings, so I don't feel trapped at all!
Thank you, Grands! I love all of you so much.

2010 Resolutions

Mommy and I have both compiled a list of resoultions for 2010.

Here are the things I have resolved to accomplish this year:
Learn to walk.
Increase receptive and expressive vocabulary.
Increase animal sound repertoire.
Visit a zoo.

Visit an aquarium.
Attend a wedding. (check) Try cow's milk, eggs, honey, oranges, strawberries, and birthday cake.
Read lots of good books.
Visit my great grandparents in Illinois.
Turn one.

Mommy is focusing her resolution on the theme of "discipline".  Many of these resolutions were made because she read this book on teaching spiritual disciplines to children.
Here is her list (she requires more words):
Grow in Scripture meditation and memorization by memorizing one verse of Scripture each week, starting with Hebrews 4: 12-16. Mommy is also learning to meditate on Scripture by reading less, but processing more during her daily Bible reading time.

Grow in the discipline of fasting. Mommy really struggles with fasting...in fact, she was secretly pleased that pregnancy and nursing gave her an "out" on this one. Once I'm completely weaned, though, she's going to start fasting one meal each week. She will increase her fasting time throughout the year. We will both be fasting Blogger, Facebook, and thebump.com for the first 3 days of each month.

Grow in the discipline of simplicity. Simplicity is a fairly new concept for Mommy, but she's already found it to be quite liberating (she's been working on it for a few weeks now). Mommy is practicing simplicity in consumption, simplicity in scheduling, and simplicity in her commitments. (She is still debating whether or not my birthday party will fall under the jurisdiction of this new-found discipline.)

Further develop the discipline of study. Study is one of the disciplines Mommy is naturally drawn to, but she has recently been made aware of a crucial aspect of this discipline that she has previously neglected...intentionally looking for God in historical and current events. Mommy is learning to ask herself, "What Biblical truths can be found here?" as she watches the news, reads fiction and nonfiction works, and researches various items of interest.

Eat no more than 2 dessert-type foods each day.
Can you believe my Mommy sometimes eats more sweets than that?! She is a sweetaholic, I tell you! She knows that her sugar-laden food intake should be much less than this goal, but she's trying to be realistic.

Be in bed by 11:30.
Whew! It's a good thing Mommy will have the help of the Holy Spirit!
