Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight my Mommy and Daddy took me to our church's Trunk-or-Treat festival. I got to dress up as "Katie Bug the Lady Bug"!
I was all smiles before we headed to the church. It was so much fun to play and crawl around the house in my lady bug costume.(Mommy is dressed as a mechanic, in case you were wondering.)

Once we got to the church, though, I became Serious Bug. There were just so many new sights and sounds to study...I didn't even have time to smile.

Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie's small group joined with Mimi, Poppy, Grandma, and Grandpa's small group to do a "Cars" theme. Daddy made this Mater costume for his truck.

Here's a shot of all the "Cars" cars together!

These are the only pictures Mommy was able to get on her camera before the battery died. All of my Grands took lots of pics, though, so I will have to show you their pictures later.

Baby Bookworm Time!

Wednesday was another Baby Bookworm day. We read three books about teddy bears, listened to some fun music, and played with the librarian's toys.

At first, I was content to play with this pretty purple ball...
but then, I saw the most glorious toy in the library.

His name is Magic Bear, and oh how I love him!

Mommy insists that Magic Bear has always been at BB storytime, but he didn't capture my heart until this week.

I sure hope Magic Bear is at the next BB meeting!

Costumes

Photobucket

This weeks' Show Us Your Life topic is "Costumes". Here are a few family favorites from before my time.

This is Mommy's all-time, most favorite, bestest costume ever! Mimi made it for her when she was a little girl. Mommy says she remembers being so excited as she watched Mimi spend days gluing cotton balls to footed jammies...and even more excited when she won the "Most Adorable" prize at her church's Fall Carnival.

Mommy had big plans to make a very similar costume for me this year, but she changed her mind when people kept asking, "Won't she just try to eat the cotton balls?"
(Oh, you guys know me too well! )

Here's a more recent costume of Mommy's. The school she taught at often had "Book Character Dress-Up Day" on Halloween.
Can you tell what book "character" Mommy is supposed to be?
She's the coconut tree from "Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom"!

Mommy came home from teaching last Halloween to find Daddy wearing this little number: Their small groups theme for Trunk or Treat was "candy"...so daddy decided to use a TV box to make a costume of his favorite candy! I hear he was a big hit at Trunk or treat.

Remember this pumpkin from a few weeks ago?
As of right now, this is the only costume I've ever worn.
It's not my Halloween costume, though!
That one will be debuted at Trunk or Treat this weekend...so you'll have to check back here on Saturday night if you want to see it!

Another Arboretum Adventure

On Tuesday I took Mommy back to the Arboretum for another visit. The weather was beautiful again, even if it was a little muddy.

This time, we were joined by "Aunt" Tara, Preston, and Ian.
Preston and Ian just got this new double jogger stroller. It looked super comfy!

We found a lovely shaded spot that was perfect for snapping a few pictures. Someone had even put this big 'ol pumpkin up on the bench for us! There were about 50 kajillion pumpkins at the Arborteum, but this was the only one I took a picture with this time.

Ian and I had fun playing in the (almost) dry grass. Ian was very sweet about sharing his toys with me...even though I only wanted to play with the toys he was holding.

Did you notice that Ian has a Top Model pose, just like my cousin Micah?

Perhaps the biggest news of the day, though, was when Mommy said, "Ok, I'll admit it...that bow is too big."

I know I've never heard those words before!

Movie Monday

Daddy took this video on Thursday afternoon. Mommy had just come home from a full day of subbing, so I was a little clingy!

Mommy and Daddy think it is cute that I have figured out how to "perform" for the camera.

Sunday Best

I am happy to report that I had another great day in the church nursery today! There were minimal tears, and maximum laughs and smiles.

Do you see that little spot on my right leg?

Mommy noticed it when she was taking this picture of me. She thought it was a bruise, but couldn't figure out where I got it from. Then, she found another bruise on the other side of my leg. She was getting a bit worried, until she tried wipping the "bruises" away.

Silly Mommy!
The spots were from the blueberries she had for breakfast this morning. She must have had some blueberry juice left on her hands when she changed my diaper.

Arboretum Fun

Yesterday I took Mommy and Auntie to the Dallas Arboretum for some fall fun. It was such a beautiful day!

Apparently, lots of other babies thought it was a great day for Arboretuming, too. I loved looking at all of the babies and big kids who were there, but you couldn't tell that from my serious-girl expressions.

After a while I got tired of being stuck in my stroller...

so Mommy let me out to explore for a while.
By the time we were ready to leave, I was one tired girl.

Pastor and Grammy Joy's House

Tuesday night I took Mommy and Daddy over to Pastor and Grammy Joy's house for dinner. The other pastors' kids came with their Mommies and Daddies, too!
We had a lot of fun playing with Grammy Joy's kid toys.

I even got to play with a ball for the first time. Can you believe we don't have any of these at my house?

It was really fun to watch Preston show off his scooter skills.

I even got to try out Preston's helmet.

I sure was in my serious-girl mode on Tuesday night!

Beautiful Fall Weather

I took Mommy outside yesterday to enjoy the lovely fall weather we are having around here.
Mommy's phone is becoming one of my favorite toys. It's a good thing she only goes for the free upgrade phone, because it may become slobber-logged soon!
Everywhere I turned my eyes spied yummy things to eat, but Mommy kept ruining my culinary fun!
"How dare you take that grass out of my mouth!"

Checking out the tunnel at Baby Bookworms.
No one can make me laugh like my Daddy!

Sunday Best

Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Why do you hear cheering coming from my house?

Because I had a good day in the nursery, that's why!

Here is the play by play the nursery workers gave Mommy when she picked me up:
I only cried for about 15 minutes.
My favorite toy was a little Mater truck from the movie "Cars".
The sun on the wall mural made me smile.
I liked playing with a second grader named Alyssa. Her mommy asked her to join me and help me feel better.

When Mommy came to pick me up at the end of the service I smiled and waved at her (as opposed to bursting into tears like I normally do), and she let me know how proud of me she was by clapping and cheering!

Mommy and Daddy are so excited that I am liking church more and more.

State Fair

Yesterday I had my first annual visit to the State Fair of Texas. The weather was beautiful, the food was fried, and the germs were abundant!

I started out the trip in my "serious girl" mode. The Fair is serious business, you know.
I was seriously about checking out the goats in the Childrens' Barnyard. Mommy wouldn't let me touch one single thing in there...and she bathed our hands in sanitizer as soon as we walked out!

Chilling on Daddy's shoulders while checking out the car show. I was helping Mommy and Daddy pick out their next car.
*Mommy would like you to know that she did put socks on my feet. They just wouldn't stay on for long.*
Found one, guys!
By the time we made it to Big Tex I was back to being a serious girl. Who has time to pose for pictures with all the people and places to take in?
Daddy with his frozen sweet tea. I have been told this is very yummy.
We had some left over tickets on our way out, so Mommy decided to use them on fried Jelly Bellys.
She said they were not so yummy (but I happen to know that she ate them all anyway).
Daddy making fun of Mommy for taking pictures of food.

Bows, Bows, Bows

Photobucket

This week's Show Us Your Life topic is "What Do You Make?".
Mommy is just learning how to make bows for me and my soon-to-be girlfriends. If there are any bow making experts out there, Mommy would love to know where you like to purchase your ribbon.

Here are my Mommy-made favorites so far:
These are the first two bows she made. Plain white korker and brown/pink polka dot korker.

Christmas korkers!

Brown korker, Red Raider korker, and small brown/turquoise korker.

Fall themed, layered boutique bow (her favorite so far).

Brown and blue striped boutique bow. Mommy made this bow after she realized I didn't have a bow to go with all of my brown and blue outfits.

Mommy could use a few bow photographing tips, don't you think? It also wouldn't hurt if she had a cutie little model for all of these bows. Hmmm, wonder where she could find one of those?

Shopping Carts and Kaylee

A few days ago I had my first successful shopping cart ride! Mommy has tried putting me in those things a few other times, but it just never worked out.
On this particular trip, we were at Party City looking for a few things for Brandi's baby shower. Mommy kept trying to get me to smile for the camera, but there were just too many other things to look at!

Yesterday Mommy and I met up with our friends Cassie and Kaylee. We had big plans to visit the Arboretum together, but the weather didn't cooperate with us. So, we went to the mall instead.
Can you believe this was only my third trip to the mall? Mommy is just not a big mall shopper.
Here's a picture of Miss Kaylee cheesing it up. She is getting a baby brother next month!

Mommy let me play on the floor for a few minutes...then she noticed it smelled like stinky feet and she scooped me up quick!

I loved the Poky Little Puppy...

and the tree with ladybugs
