I've been a three year old for three whole weeks now, but I'm just now getting to the point where I can admit it. Weeks before my birthday, Mommy and Daddy had been talking up the whole "about to turn three" thing with me. I was really okay with the tranisition...until the big day came rolling around. All of a sudden I realized I was not ready to let go of 2.
On the anniversary of the day of my birth, the mere mention of me being three years old brought tears to my eyes and protestations from my mouth. It got so bad that my parents began running interference with well wishers by telling them "Just say happy birthday. Don't mention anything about her being three!".
Now, though, if someone asks my age I'll proudly hold up three fingers...and then quickly put one back down right before I say, "Two." Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

A famous quote from me back when my dad used to tape-record my voice for fun: "Jessica! You're about to turn three!"
Me: "No!"
Dad: "You don't want to be three?"
Me: "No! Wanna be two!"
It's so hard to grow up ;0)
