Sunday Best

Well, I've had two successful nursery Sundays in a row now.  This "big kid" class is really working out well for me!

I even learned a new song this morning.  Mommy says she used to sing it when she volunteered in the nursery as a junior higher, but she had forgotten all about it until my teacher sang it for her today.  It goes like this:

God made my head and
God made my nose.
God made my fingers,
God made my toes.
God made my eyes and they both open wide.
God made my mouth with my tongue inside.

That last line is my favorite because you get to stick out your tongue after you sing it!

Brandi and Karsyn were at church this morning, too.  Don't Karsyn and I look super cute in our matching outfits?
Thanks for the clothes, Mimi and Grammy Joy!

And don't worry...I won't forget to post Trunk or Treat pictures later in the week.

Weekend Wedding

This past weekend, my family and I headed back out to San Antonio to attend a Friday night wedding.  Here are a few highlights of our teensy vacation.

I got to play with my friend, Judah Coop, again.  Judah is only five days younger than me.  We had a great time together!

I also enjoyed checking out Judah's baby sister, Claire.

Uncle Oscar was at the wedding, too.  Aren't we great posers?

As you can see, I was in quite the picture-taking mood...

...and feeling very generous with my smiles...

...until Mimi and Poppy decided they wanted to take a picture with me.

This was one of Chris and Abby's fabulous engagement pictures.  Mommy thinks this shot belongs in a magazine spread.

We loved spending time with the Coop/Dunn family!  Judah's aunt, Colleen (in the black dress), is one of Mommy's former babysitters.

Saturday morning, we met the Coop family at The Egg and I for breakfast...

then headed back to our hotel where Daddy and Poppy kept me entertained with 'wimmin pool' tricks.

How I suprised Mommy on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning, Mommy decided to be a little edgy and let me read books in her bed while she took a quick shower.  I'm super talented at getting off the bed 'feet first', so she was confident that I wouldn't be taking any unexpected tumbles.

Even with that confidence, though, the first thing she did when she stepped out of the (very, very fast) shower was peek into the bedroom to see how I was doing.  She wasn't too suprised to find that I was no longer on the bed...but she was suprised to see this...

Yup, that's me sitting in my Bumbo!  I haven't used that thing in months, but Sunday just seemed like a good day for some Bumbo reading.

Pretty funny, huh?

Sunday Best

Happy Sunday!

Can you guess who moved up to the big kids class at church?  Yup, it's me!

And when I say big kids I really mean 1.5-2.5 year olds.

I'm sure you're thinking, "What a minute!  Katie Bug turned 1.5 almost 3 months ago."...and you are right.  My silly Mommy thought I wasn't supposed to leave the walker nursery until I was 2 years old.  Our nursery coordinator thought Mommy was making a conscious choice to keep me with the under 1.5 crowd, so she was just trying to let Mommy do her own thing.  Thankfully, Mommy noticed the correct age ranges while glancing at her nursery schedule for this month...and we made the big change today.

Here's the absolute best part, though: I did great in there!

Well, I guess I should be honest and tell you that I did mostly great.  I did bite Ian's finger when he put it in my mouth.  Fortunately, he and his mommy were very understanding!

Mommy is so excited that this transition went well.  My nursery disposition took a few steps backward when she went back to work, so she is viewing today as a shining ray of hope...and there's probably a handful of Lighthouse nursery workers who are seeing those rays, too.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

Clearly, my Mommy hasn't been giving me much computer time lately.  She's always hogging the PC so she can work on lesson plans, input student grades, research best teaching practices, or write emails to coworkers and parents of students.  I know she's got a lot on her plate, so I've offered to help her type and grade papers (she uses a pretty red pen)...but she's just not willing to delegate!

So, until I am able to sit down and compose a proper blog post, please enjoy the following pictorial smattering of Bug happenings.

I hit up this nearby pumpkin patch twice in the last week...

first with Mimi, Preston, Ian, and "Aunt" Tara...

then with Mommy, Daddy, Gramma, Grampa, and Micah.

My parents and I have been perfecting the "Family Hug".

And Mommy let me play with some of the snow she's been saving since February.  It was super fun and super delicious!

Fun at the Fair

Friday was Mommy's Fair Day, so Daddy took the day off and the three of us headed out to the fabulous State Fair of Texas.

Mommy had created a lengthy 'to do' list in her head, but we didn't actually get much crossed off of that list.  I guess that's just what happens when you get a late start on the day, rely on public transportation, and have a 20 month old who requires a mid-day nap!

Here's what we did manage to do, though:

Eat a Fletcher's corny dog (our friend and Fair expert, Scott, informed Mommy that if you purchase a Fletcher's dog it must be refered to as corny).

Try out the Texas Fried Frito Pie...
well, I didn't actually get to try this one.  Mommy didn't think I was missing out on too much, though.

Play on this thingy.

Splash in the Esplanade fountains.

Watch five minutes of the the Backyard Circus.  The 'ringmaster' took a long time explaining the circus, so I was 'all done' long before the act actually got started.

Visit the petting zoo.
I waved and said 'hi' to the goats, giraffe, water buffalo, cow, and pigs.

Once we toured the petting zoo, I was more than ready to head home for my nap.  Mommy and Daddy have decided that next year we won't head to the fair until after my nap is over...that should give us more time to enjoy ourselves!

Momma's Getting Old!

Two weekends ago, Mommy attended her 10 year high school reunion.  She had a great time reconnecting with old friends and getting a chance to talk face to face with people she knows through the blogosphere.

Mommy was educated with some very remarkable people!  Among the reunion attendees were a geneticist, lots of teachers, a speech pathologist, dentist, physical therapist, nurses, engineers, a pharmaceutical rep, photographer, accountants, and a mission trip organizer for an international ministry.  Not too bad for public education..and that's not even counting the classmates whose jobs Mommy forgot to ask about!

Unfortunately, Mommy didn't take many pictures of this milestone event...but here are a few of the shots she did manage to capture.

This is Mommy, Jasmine, and Jamie at the Friday night Homecoming game.  (You can tell from Mommy's hair that it was quite a humid evening.)
Jasmine and Jamie have been friends since elementary school. Mommy joined their circle of friends in middle school.

Jasmine is getting married this summer!  Here's a pic of her beautiful engagement ring.  My family is excited about traveling to Washinton, D.C. for her wedding.

Mommy and Daddy met up with these friends for dinner on Saturday night before the actual reunion event.  This is Ngozi, Julie, Mary, and Mommy.
Mommy has been friends with Ngozi since middle school.  She became friends with Mary and Julie in high school.

Julie's mommy made this lovely creation for the casino-themed reunion.  I heard that it tasted every bit as delicious as it looks!

And where was I during all of these festivities, you ask?  Why I was partying it up with my Grands, of course!  I do occassionally allow my parents to have a night off, you know.

Happy Monthday to Me!

Mommy and Daddy can't believe it, but I turned 20 months old yesterday!  I took a little break from 'monthday' posts last month...but since I've changed so much in the last two months I decided that you needed to be filled in on all of the Bug latest and greatest.

Here's what's going on in my world at 20 months:

I just moved into 18 month clothes last week.

My shoe size is somewhere between 5 and 6.  Technically, that would put me in size 5.5 shoes, but those are near impossible to find.

I don't know my actual weight or height.  As you can see in this picture, though, I am still long and lean.
And I love those footed jammies!

I still looove going outside.  Unfortunately, though, I am a bug magnet.  At last count I had at least 10 bites on my body.

I can pee-pee and poo-poo in my potty.

My verbal skills are still growing every day.  Lately, I have had some difficulty with plurals.  'Toesies' and  'shoesies' are words that often come out of my mouth.  For some reason, Mommy and Daddy always smile when they hear me say those two words.

I can count to ten (with a teeny bit of help) and recognize all of the letters in my name (when they're capitalized).

I have decided that reading books to myself is way more fun than having someone else read to me.

Last night, Mommy introduced me to a new friend.  Her name is Shadow and I love her.  I see her all over the place.

In the past few weeks I have become much more willing to give hugs and kisses to people I see on a regular basis.

Applesauce (or appapas, as I call it) is my favorite food in the whole wide world right now!

Happy Birthday, Gramma!

Tomorrow is Gramma's 60th birthday!  In honor of this special milestone, Grampa threw a big suprise party for Gramma tonight.

Here are a few pics of the evening. Consider it proof that, despite what the last few posts may lead you to believe, Mommy's fingers do still remember how to take pictures.

This yummy cake was made by Gramma's friends, Janet and David.

The next two photos show some of Gramma's friends and family playing a "How Well Do You Know Connie?" game.  I think Connie is Gramma's other name.

Once the party was over and the decorations were taken down, Micah and I had a blast playing with the party poms.

And here's the whole Moss clan.

Gramma's birthday celebration really started late last night when Uncle Brian, Aunt Becky, and Cousin Micah suprised Gramma by coming into town.  Little did she know that their arrival was just the beginning!

Happy birthday, Gramma!  I love giving you hugs and kisses, playing with you, and spending time at your house.  I love you very much and hope you have a fabulous 60th year.
